Spuntino to open in Heathrow T3

Russell Norman’s popular New York-style diner, Spuntino in Soho, is to open a second site at Heathrow Terminal 3 featuring a donut maker and a roller skating maître d.

As reported by Eater, Norman’s gritty 27-seater Soho spot, which opened on Rupert Street in 2011, diverged from his Venetian-inspired Polpo chain and was one of the first sites in London to champion counter dining.

The T3 site promises to serve a number of Spuntino classics, from decadent truffled egg on toast to dinky salt beef sliders, alongside a bespoke airport breakfast menu, a new brunch menu, a children’s menu and a takeaway menu.

Also on the menu will be Spuntino’s legendary lobster mac ‘n’ cheese, Chicago dogs, a Swiss cheeseburger with chipotle and jalapeño, and a chicken, fennel and apple slaw burger.

New to the second site will be a snazzy donut maker and a roller skating host, which we love the sound of.

“Expect hearty breakfasts, legendary burgers, mac n cheese, roller skates and lots of doughnuts,” Scott Macdonald, Spuntino’s managing director, told Eater.

In addition to Spuntino, Russell Norman also runs the six strong Venetian small plates chain Polpo and used to run Jewish diner Mishkins in Covent Garden.
