The page long wine list is also amended with frequency. The Blanc des Blancs, Franciacorta Satèn is a chic starting point. Familiar territory in white terms may include evergreen, now mainstream consumer favourite, the lip-stinging Picpoul de Pinet; otherwise, boldly go into a bowl of wild wine from Zmago Petrič, the self confessed 'stubborn' author of the Guerila label from Slovenia's Vipava Valley. Expect an abundance of hispanic pours in the reds, as well as a friendly Romanian, alongside grown up Côte-Rôtie (Domaine de Bonserine) and the odd Kiwi from Middle Earth, Central Otago. To finish, order a juicy, sweet Malbec from Mendoza, or luscious Tokai from Mád (Szent Tamás).

Review 2018

In the shadow of Ernő Goldfinger’s Trellick Tower occurs 108, a bricky, boldly decorated, dim lit haven with low chairs and a good soundtrack. This Ladbroke Grove food salon, as well as Southam Street – a former Victorian pub nearby, is run by trained artist and chef, Chris Denney (who worked at Nahm Bangkok, Viajante and The Square) and Wall Street financier turned restaurateur, Luco Longobardi. Urban legend holds that Longobardi, alleged banker of the mafia, fortuituously found Denney via Gumtree…

Admired then devoured under the painted gaze of a lifesize portrait of member of the Order of the Golden Fleece, the Duke of Saxony, food menus, being either the six course tasting menu with choice or the à la carte, may change up-to twice daily. Savoury dishes may include lamb heart agnotti pasta with mustard dashi, turnip and pink onion, roast octopus, black radish and tahini, Jacobs ladder (aka. short rib) with black garlic and salsify, and seabass romesco with monksbeard, rye and hazelnuts. Continue the culinary narrative with chocolate crémeux with, believe-it or-not, artichoke ice cream, hazelnut and puffed rice (which one reviewer unfavourably likened to ‘maggots’ in appearance!)
