Lip-smackingly good value in the most unlikely of wine-focused settings – a BBQ shack. Michel Furdyna’s Champagne as the entry point is refreshing in that it’s not the usual Grand Marque for a restaurant of this style.
The New World selection is particularly worth plundering. Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir from South Africa, and Calera Pinot Noir from the Central Coast, California, are great partners for the rich food on offer. California is particularly strong, as you would hope, with names like Qupé, Seghesio, Schafer and Frog’s Leap offering a great selection.
Well-priced Tignanello from Tuscany, a Turkish Sauvignon Blanc from Sevilen, and Shaw and Smith’s ‘M3 Chardonnay’ at a very tempting price all contributes towards a rewarding and fairly priced list.
