In a likeable gesture, the one-page wine list, which is divided into headings such as ‘Opulent’ and ‘Inspire & Discover’, also features a dedicated selection of chilled reds in season. Perhaps unsurprisingly, for traders to celebrate rises in the stock market, or drown sorrows when share prices fall, there is an emphasis on bubbles, with six renditions available by the glass, all at under £10. Dishes, largely drawing on British ingredients, include a thankfully moreish huge sharing mezze board comprising bulgur wheat salad, hummus, baba ghanoush, harissa, pickled chillies and olives, as well as more conventional mains, such as the lamb chops with crushed new potatoes and mint. Side orders include the naughty-sounding ‘cowboy fries’ with honey, chilli and garlic.
