Let’s say ‘hooray’ to an old-fashioned wine bar with good cheese and excellent terrines.

REVIEWS

Review 2016/17

The Wine Library, an under-the-radar wine shop and bar in Tower Hill where you can browse at your leisure and pluck something from the shelf to enjoy with a plate of charcuterie and cheese. The independent merchant, which bills itself as a “wine cellar restaurant”, prides itself on operating under on ethos good service and fair margins.

The restaurant, which offers all of its wines at retail for a slim £9.50 mark-up, serves simple plates of goodness; artisan French cheeses, game terrines, pâtés, rillettes and saucissons from the Loire Valley, hams from Dorset and organic vegetarian quiches from Devon. An Aladdin’s Cave of delights and the scene of many a boozy lunch (returning to the office is ill-advised).

Please note that for the wine picks below, corkage of £9.50 should be added to each bottle price if it is opened in the bar.
