The UK gets its first orange wine bar

With skin contact wine enjoying its moment in the sun, the UK’s first bar dedicated entirely to orange wine is set to open in London tomorrow.

Silver Lining in Hackney is the UK’s first bar entirely dedicated to orange wine

As reported by Hot Dinners, neighbourhood restaurant Silver Lining in Hackney is rebranding itself as a specialist orange wine bar when it reopens for business tomorrow following an ease of lockdown measures in England.

Opening in phases, from 8 July the bar will operate as a takeaway bottle shop selling over 30 orange wines from around the world.

As reported by Hot Dinners, owners Alastair and Sarah Maddox have long been champions of orange wine, promoting them to their guests via ‘Orange Wednesdays’ offers that shine a light on skin contact expressions.

Among the wines to have featured in the Orange Wednesday line-up so far are Progetto Calcarius Ca 40.08 Nu Litr Falanghina from Puglia; Testalonga Baby Bandito Stay Brave Chenin from the Swartland; and Patrick Sullivan Jumpin’ Juice Yellow Yellow Sauvignon Blanc from Australia’s Yarra Valley.

“We want to present a range of orange and skin contact wine that really shows the breadth and variety of this category.

“Our desire is to be a place of socialising and discovery for both connoisseurs and novices alike,” Sarah Maddox told Hot Dinners.

Silver Lining is due to open as a specialist orange wine bar later this year. In addition to skin contact wine it will serve seasonal sharing plates.
