Two of London’s Wetherspoons pubs make the Good Beer Guide 2022

The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has published the Good Beer Guide 2022 revealing two of London’s best beer pubs are in fact Wetherspoons.

The pubs, the Botwell Inn in Hayes and the Tichenham Inn in Ickenham are owned by none other than the Wetherpoons boss and avid Brexit ‘Leave’ campaigner Tim Martin, according to reports in My London.

All pubs have been checked by CAMRA members for the quality of their real ales, the customer service, the decor and the atmosphere.

The Botwell Inn, which has been open since 2000, has a patio with parasols and heaters as well as several changing beers and TripAdvisor reviewers praise it for its “great atmosphere” at the pub with one citing: “Friendly smiles and best beer garden in the area. It’ll honestly be your loss if you don’t come here.”

The Tichenham Inn manager Lily Capillo admitted: “I am delighted that The Tichenham Inn has been recognised for the quality of its real ales by CAMRA members. We offer our customers an excellent range of real ales at all times, including those from regional brewers and microbrewers, as well as hosting our own beer festivals.

Capillo added: “Staff at the pub work hard to ensure that the real ales on offer are kept in first-class condition at all times and the pub’s inclusion in the guide highlights this.”

The Good Beer Guide 2022 described the Tichenham Inn as a “small and friendly Wetherspoon pub with a strong local following”.
