Taking place today, the restaurant and deli has forgone birthday cake in favour of their cannoli filled with ricotta, pistachio and chocolate, to enjoy with the people who have supported them over the years.

Offering the very best of Italian pantry essentials, the deli has seen eight decades of trading.

Lina Stores opened their first restaurant in 2018 on Soho’s Greek Street with a long-established friend of the deli, Masha Rener, at the helm.

To celebrate Lina Stores’ seminal birthday, Rener has created a recipe of Gnocci alla Genovese.  Utilising the quality regional ingredients that founder Lina filled her floor-to-ceiling shelves with when the deli was first opened, the dish consists of gnocchi, handmade each day in the deli; basil pesto, which originates in Genova where Lina was born; and topped with green beans and pine nuts.

Rener said: “Lina Stores has played such an important role in the development of the Italian culinary culture in London over the last eight decades. It has been a privilege to have been involved it its lifecycle, from first stumbling upon it 20 years ago to opening the restaurant last year.

“I’m looking forward to celebrating all that Lina has done for us over a Negroni or two, our new Gnocchi dish and sharing plenty of our cannoli.”

Lina Stores will give away 300 cannoli throughout the day to guests across their deli on Brewer Street and restaurant on Greek Street alongside any purchase, whilst stocks last.
