Review 2016/17
Dry Rieslings from the Mosel include Peter Lauer as a regular fixture. There is also a ‘natural’ bottle-fermented Prosecco from Zanotto, Foillard’s Morgon Côte du Puy and esteemed Austrian estate Gut Oggau make an appearance with ‘Winifred’ Rosé.
With an entry point of £17 a bottle and very friendly margins throughout the rest of the list, there are bottles here that are much cheaper than most in Central London. The atmosphere can be raucous, but you’ll drink well here.
Earlier this year, chef Ben Chapman confirmed that a second Smoking Goat was to open in Shoreditch this autumn. This site will aim to be a bar first and a restaurant second, with only three or four dishes expected to be on the menu at any one time, changing daily.
It will be located on the ground floor of the White Horse – a former strip club – on Shoreditch High Street.
