The Kitchin Group named restaurateur of the year

Tom and Michaela Kitchin, the team behind The Kitchin Group, have taken home the award ‘Restaurateur of the Year’ at the National Restaurant Awards.

Hosted by Restaurant magazine and taking place at London’s The Hurlingham Club, the award ceremony also saw three Michelin-starred restaurant Moor Hall in Lancashire named best restaurant in the UK.

Located in a converted whisky bonded warehouse in Leith, Edinburgh, The Kitchin has been awarded multiple accolades since its launch in 2006.

The duo have since gone on to open a further four restaurants encompassing The Castle Terrace, The Scran and Scallie, Southside Scran and The Bonnie Badger.

Offering modern British cuisine with a French influence, The Kitchin’s ethos ‘From Nature to Plate’ reflects the team’s commitment to sourcing the finest and freshest seasonal produce.

Tom said: “Michaela and I are thrilled to have won UK Restaurateur of the Year at the National Restaurant Awards last night, especially as we really respect the other guys who were shortlisted.

“It’s been a really busy last six months for us having opened both Southside Scran and The Bonnie Badger, so it’s a huge honour to be recognised in this way.

“A big well done to our whole team, it’s definitely a team effort and we will continue to push on and try and deliver the best food and hospitality experiences that we possibly can.”
