Where winemakers dine: Victor Urrutia

Chief executive and fifth generation of the founding family of Rioja winery Companía Vinícola del Norte de Espagna (CVNE), Victor Urrutia, tells us where he goes when he gets a craving for proper tapas.

What is your favourite restaurant in London?

Barcelona Tapas Bar in the city, the Spanish food there is proper Spanish food and the atmosphere makes you feel at home, you can even find some old CVNE vintages there!

Where / what is your favourite wine offering in London and what would be your go-to first glass of wine when you get there?

Difficult question! But probably I will say Hedonism Wines, is the place where I get in and time passes by while tasting wonderful wines from their enomatic machine. And the knowledge of the team is amazing and it is fun how they can drive you through the shop.

How does London compare with other big metropolitan cities of the world for the quality of its wine offering?

London is probably one of the best places in the world to find the biggest diversity within wine lists in restaurants, you can fly around the world while having a meal in a restaurant in London.
