Nyetimber to host chef-paired dinners

Nyetimber will be hosting two dinners in the medieval barn at its West Sussex estate, pairing the menus of two Masterchef: The Professionals winners with its English sparkling wine.

The first dinner, on 29 November, will see Sven-Hanson Britt, finalist of BBC’s Masterchef: The Professionals 2014 and winner of Masterchef the Professionals: The Rematch 2019, and the Oxeye team preparing a four-course dinner. As well as Britt’s cooking, guests will be treated to Nyetimber’s 1086 Prestige Cuvée.

After joining The Ritz as an apprentice at the age of 18, Britt rose in the ranks and took a sabbatical in France before then returning to the prestigious hotel and restaurant as sous chef. He would later found Oxeye, a seasonal ingredient-focused restaurant in central London.

For the second dinner, on 4 December, chef Steven Edwards will be at the pass. Edwards won the 2013 edition of Masterchef: The Professionals, becoming one of the youngest ever winners of the competition at the age of 26. Among the dishes being teased are butter-roasted John Dory and apple parfait with thyme marshmallow. Michel Roux Jr. praised Edwards’ cooking: “He makes food that is great to eat, expertly cooked, presented with a certain elegance, clean lines, and it works — fault-free.”

Before his stint on the BBC programme, Edwards trained with the likes of Raymond Blanc, Andrew McNaughton and Chris Wheeler. In March 2020 he opened his second restaurant, Steven Edwards @ The Bingham Riverhouse in Richmond, London.

The tickets for each event cost £185 and are available from the Nyetimber website. On both occasions guests will be greeted with canapés and a glass of Nyetimber, and a brand ambassador from the winery will talk them through each pairing.
