Taylor’s opens terrace for ‘Port season’

With many of us likely to crack open a bottle of fortified wine this festive season, Taylor’s Port has launched a winter terrace at boutique hotel The Mitre Hampton Court.

While many, particularly in the wine trade, would advocate for drinking Port all year round, it is a tipple very much synonymous with Christmas in the UK.

The Taylor’s Port Winter Terrace will be offering a range of drinks, as well as dishes to pair, from November through to the New Year.

The by-the-glass list includes Late Bottle Vintage, 10-Year-Old Tawny, 20-Year-Old Tawny (served from double magnums and five litre bottles), as well as single Quinta vintage expressions. There will also be three cocktails made using Taylor’s Port: the LBV Martini, the Porto Negroni, and the Port Old Fashioned. Furthermore, as Christmas wouldn’t be complete without some gluhwein variation, mulled Port will be served from the Taylor’s Mulled Port tricycle too.

Taylor’s also promises that there will be a strong selection of dishes to pair, including bombolini doughnuts.

Ed Lyle, operations director at The Mitre Hampton Court, said: “With the clocks going back and temperatures dipping, Port season is well and truly here, and we are so pleased to be able to welcome guests to enjoy such a wide range of different offerings from Taylor’s Port at the Taylor’s Port Winter Terrace. The bar itself is magnificent, beautifully decorated and the perfect backdrop for festive photos, where guests can enjoy anything from warming mulled Port or a winter Port cocktail, right up to a glass of Taylor’s 1985 Vintage Port for those really looking to push the boat out. There’s something for everybody this Port season!”
