Eat Pray Love Pizzeria to open in London’s Soho

L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele, the Neapolitan institution made famous by Julia Roberts in Eat Pray Love, is to open a second London site in Soho this autumn.

L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele shot to fame after appearing in the 2010 film Eat Pray Love

As reported by Hot Dinners, the pizzeria will take over Patisserie Valerie on Old Compton Street in Soho. The Naples original shot to global fame after appearing in the 2010 film Eat Pray Love in a scene that sees Julia Roberts take a road trip from Rome to sample Italy’s best pizza.

Da Michele’s classic, the Margherita, is famous for its super thin base and lashings of stretchy mozzarella, sweet tomato and fragrant basil. The pizzas are blitzed in a white hot wood-fired oven for little more than a minute.

The restaurant opened its first London site in the north London borough of Stoke Newington in 2017, which soon closed and moved to a new site in Marylebone. Its second Soho site is slated to open in September.

In addition to giant Margheritas and Marinaras, according to Hot Dinners, the Soho site will serve fried pizzas with pressed pork, Neapolitan salami, fior di latte and Pecorino.

Another new addition to the menu is a truffle pizza laden with fior di latte, white truffle cream, mushrooms, Pecorino, shaved black truffle and black truffle extra virgin olive oil.
