Vinho Verde kicks off new UK campaign

Vinho Verde has announced a new marketing and communications campaign in the UK starting this month.

The campaign will feature trade and consumer elements and aims to highlight the Portuguese wine’s more “premium” offerings and will include consumer festivals and sommelier events with Portuguese chefs.

Dr Manuel Pinheiro, president of the Comissão De Viticultura Da Região Dos Vinhos Verdes said: “We are thrilled to launch this new campaign in the UK. We see a real opportunity for Vinho Verde in the UK, as the Brits have a real love affair with Portugal and the increasing demand for fresh white wines with character.

“Nonetheless, there are many layers left to be revealed from this region to dispel myths and show off a cooler side of Portuguese wines.”

Frederic Dersigny, managing director of Sopexa UK which is handling the campaign added: “We are so pleased to start working with Vinho Verde in the UK and to extend our work with them in the Sopexa network. I’ve been really impressed by the increasing presence of Portuguese chefs, restaurants and the interest in the wines in the UK and I believe Vinho Verde has all of the right ingredients to have a real impactful on the UK market.”
