The Savoy marks the Coronation with English fizz

The Savoy hotel will be marking the month of the Coronation of King Charles III with a number of festivities, including a visit from the famous Nyetimber bus.

The historic Thameside hotel is putting on a number of events and installations over May, including its Royal Afternoon Tea and an abundance of decor, including numerous crowns and wisteria, the King’s favourite flower.

From 5 to 7 May, Nyetimber’s famous 1968 Routemaster Bus will also be parked on Savoy Court. Throughout the weekend, guests can book an exclusive tasting on the top deck of the bus to sample three of Nyetimber’s English Sparkling Wines, guided by a brand ambassador, alongside sweet treats from The Savoy’s pastry team. Slots can be booked on the Nyetimber website.

On the day of the Coronation itself (6 May), there will also be The Savoy Street Party.

At the party, a number of quintessentially British treats will be served, including: British rhubarb and vanilla custard tartlet, Coronation lemon drizzle cake, Royal Battenberg, and a Victoria sponge cake. There will also be English sparkling wine from Nyetimber, with its non-vintage Classic Cuvee and Rosé poured alongside a non-alcoholic alternative of JING Pearls Sparkling Tea.

The Travelling Hands, described in a press release as an “acoustic roaming band”, will be providing the music during the coronation
