The list of the most Instagrammed vineyards has been revealed by a travel company, which has taken data on the wine estates that are consistently hashtagged in posts.
The list, which CV Villas has described as ‘the most beautiful vineyards in the world’, has seen Boschendal in South Africa come top with more than 95,500 hashtags to-date associated with the vineyard. Located between Franschhoek and Stellenbosch, Boshendal, it is one of the country’s oldest wine estates dating back to 1685.

In second place was Penfolds Magill Estate in Adelaide, Australia with 94,761 hashtags followed by Napa Valley’s Castello Di Amorosa in the United States, complete with its Tuscan-inspired castle, with 88,784 hashtags.
All three of the vineyards offer various experiences, including tastings, tours and restaurant options, as well as opportunities for events such as weddings, which allows for an increase in the opportunity for social media posting, alongside the natural beauty of the landscape.
At a national level, although not featuring in the top five for the most hashtags, France had seven vineyards on the list of the top 30, including Champagne Billecart-Salmon with 58,000 hashtags, and where 2.5 million bottles of Champagne are made every single year.
The estate boasts 300 hectares of vineyards, giving visitors “plenty of opportunities to take an Insta-worthy picture while sipping a glass of sparkling wine”, CV Villas said. Other notable French estates that feature in the list are Chateau Margaux, Château La Coste, Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Château d’Yquem, Chateau Haut Brion and Champagne Taittinger, who all received five-figure numbers for hashtags.
The other traditional wine area of Italy also performed strongly at a country level with Donnafugata-Marsala shared with 65,445 hashtags, with the images of the architecture of a Mediterranean Baglio featuring strongly. Additionally, Ferrari Trento – an official Formula 1 partner – is 12th on the list and Ceretto, which is a family-run vineyard bottling organically farmed red and white wines is 25th with 18,000 hashtags.
Spain features twice with Marques de Riscal in eighth, which has been making great wines since 1858, and Familia Torres – Pacs del Penedes in 19th. Argentina also has two stunning vineyards included in the most beautiful list, while the UK features with Nyetimber ranking 18th just over 22,000 times.
